Ghillie Vintage Lace-Up Shoes (Black)

I bought the Ghillies in my normal size. I found that they were a little short, so I sent them back and will order one full size larger. I have one other pair of American Duchess shoes, the Bessie boots, and they fit perfectly in my normal size. That’s why I thought the Ghillies would fit. What fabulous shoes this company offers! I’ll update on the Ghillies soon.

I got these on pre-order and they were well worth the wait. Super cute I don’t do very well with pointy shoes so these will be a cute alternative to my 18th century history, bounding phase. I do feel that they run a tad bit small though, so you may want to order up a half size.

I was phenomenally excited when I saw that American Duchess had released these shoes, being a 1940s afficionado but assuming shoes like this would never be a modern-day reality. I have narrow feet and usually wear a size 8.5 (rarely, but sometimes, a 9). I purchased these in an 8.5 and could feel my big toe pressing on the front of the shoe in a painful way. I decided to try the 9, and they fit! No more pain. My heel does not sit quite as snugly in them as in the 8.5's (though tightening the laces helps), but I have narrow heels and encounter that issue frequently. The 9's are entirely wearable and comfortable. The shoes are sturdy and structured and the metal eyelets will prevent the leather from stretching or tearing when the shoe is laced. The heel is a perfect, low height that feels very stable and comfortable. A beautiful, quality shoe!
