Claire 1940s Oxfords are direct reproductions of an original CC41 compliant "Academy Girl" brand shoe. They meet all the requirements for most military unit dress shoes and are similar in design and decoration to original styles sold as military dress shoes by historic brands such as Lotus and Red Cross.
Claires are constructed of a calf leather upper, lined in brown pigskin leather, with leather soling and a 1.6 in / 4 cm stacked-look heel, just like the original.

Wanted a shoe that would work both for dressing up formal and for daily wear, and so far, these shoes have worked very well for that. They’re beautiful and classy, but still fairly subtle. (The click clack of the heel is not so subtle, but it’s fun!) I’ve done some long walking days in these already and they were pretty comfortable. I am still waiting for them to fully break in, as they don’t fit my right foot quite as well as my left, but I’m sure they’ll be super comfortable then.
I bought the Claire's because the other oxfords were sold out. I absolutely love these shoes! They are my go-to pair when I run to the store. I wore them all weekend at a WWII reenactment and they are troopers. I do wish there was a little bit more cushion in the heel area as the ball of my heel will get fatigued after a bit of walking.
Even wore them for dancing, they're just fantastic
These fit me perfectly, I have a narrow foot and am usually 9 in flats, 8.5 in heels. So far I seem to be 8.5 in all American Duchess shoes. Love that these are durable for walking at reenactments.
I bought these is both black and brown. Love the comfort and stability of the shoe along with the classic look of the 1940’s.

I bought these shoes for a Shakespeare production set in the 1940s and not only are they period-appropriate, these shoes are incredibly comfortable and well-made! You cannot get this quality at a department store. They even come with new heel covers for when your shoes start to wear; I have no doubt these will last me years, if not a lifetime, with proper care. I definitely plan to wear these as dress shoes outside period-accurate events! Well worth the price, and if they don't fit when you try them, the return/exchange process is quick and easy.
