I dithered too long about sizing to get the red/black. (Bring back someday!) Because I have awkward feet--basically size 7 length but a little wide for standard width but not wide enough for women's wide (or men's standard width). So I ordered both 7 and 7.5 (red/ivory for fun and black/black for practicality) figuring whichever didn't fit would go back. 7.5 fit more comfortably so the 7 went back--but because husband thought they were cute (and we get enough rain around here) they were exchanged for next size up.
Applied the stain/water repellent because --it rains around here, and let's keep these nice. First time I wore one pair out was actually over base rock (early stage of country road being built) and snow. They did fine, though I wouldn't recommend walking on base rock as a regular thing.
Yes, as mentioned in another review, the lacing system is different. There's a reason for it. And it's not that hard to get used to. What I don't like is where the spacing between the cross-lacing hits leave a gap between the tongue and the front ankle. Wasn't a problem as such, just didn't feel as secure as I'm used to.
The padding and lining are comfortable. The fur is fun and cozy. The rubber sole has a fine texture for improved traction on wet, slippery surfaces. Heel height is great for those of us who can't do the 2+ inch heel heights.
