Description

Marjorie sets the standard for 1920s day shoes! The perfect counterpart to glamorous 1920s evening shoes, Marjorie features a classically 1920s silhouette in smooth leather that is casual enough for day-wear, and elegant enough to take you into the evening with ease. Marjorie’s subtle simplicity is set off by gorgeous woven leather detailing over the toe. Based on an original leather day shoe from the 1920s, Marjorie is accurate to the 1920s-1940s.

Marjorie features perfectly balanced, custom American Duchess 2”/5.08 cm French heels, a rounded toe, leather strap with a functional button, and sealed leather soles. Wear Marjorie with 1920s dropped-waist dresses, 1930s skirt suits, or with modern trousers for a touch of vintage flair.

Stunning

The shoes are already getting lots of compliments, and today was the first time I wore them out! I do wish I had gone down a half size, I got this size because it's what I wear in the Paris boots, but with the more rounded toe box it's almost too big (didn't figure that until I worn them a little longer though)

Adorable and Comfortable

The heel is a little lower than I usually go for, but these are still absolutely adorable and they're so comfortable. I like that it's possible to button the straps without a buttonhook.

Button fell off the second time I wore them

The button fell off the second time I put these on.

I know buttons aren't forever, but they should last longer than two wears. For the price, I expect better.

Hi Rae,

Thanks so much for your review! We include a couple extra buttons in the same baggie as the extra heelcaps for just these occasions and you can find instructions on how to replace the buttons here: https://www.americanduchess.com/pages/how-to-replace-boot-buttons

If a button pops off after only a couple wears, it can also indicate that that moving the button a bit closer to the edge of the shoe might be beneficial. You can have the buttons moved professionally by your local cobbler, or we have instructions on how to move them yourself here: https://www.americanduchess.com/pages/how-to-move-shoe-boot-buttons

The perfect wedding shoes

I absolutely love my shoes! The Marjorie 1920s shoe is exactly what I was looking for to wear on my wedding day. They are beautiful, incredibly well made with quality materials, and actually comfortable; I wore them all day and evening and never got sore or tired feet. I will wear these shoes with everything - they easily can be dressed up or down. If you don't own a button hook, do get one. Yes, you can button these without one, but you're going to fight with it. Sizing is accurate, so order your regular shoe size. And customer service is top-notch. When I ran into a snag during ordering (no fault of American Duchess, just a tech glitch) Janette was prompt in responding my email and helped me easily fix the issue. I will definitely come back to American Duchess for future purchases!
