Step into the Rainey Lace-Up Boots, an everyday walking boot well-suited to any dandy wardrobe. Designed in collaboration with Dandy Wellington, these buttery-soft Balmoral boots feature a fitted ankle, relaxed ball of foot, and the Dandy logo stamp of sartorial approval on the heels.
The Rainey is dedicated to the “Mother of the Blues” vocalist and bandleader Ma Rainey, a queer trailblazer who performed all over America influencing the likes of Louis Armstrong and Bessie Smith. Her extravagant style and deep gravelly voice earned her a recording contract with Paramount where she recorded 94 titles.
The Raineys are made in top-grade calf leather with a soft twill lining and leather facings. They come with full leather soles with welt detailing and an adjustable lace-up instep and short ankle.

These shoes came relatively quickly, nicely packaged. The shoes are incredibly comfortable and fit true to size. Very well made, I’m very impressed and will make future purchases!
I've been admiring American Duchess shoes for Quite a long time and when I saw that the Rainys were back I had to get them. Yes, they are pricey (luckily they were on sale when I got them!) But I believe in the Vimes boots theory and I intend to make these shoes last.
I've worn them now several times and always enjoyed them. Most recently, I wore them to my Regionals Academic Decathlon competition!! Meaning that I wore them for about for 7 hours and walked around a lot during that time, up and down stairs. They were very comfortable the entire time AND (bonus) they matched my silk dinosaur tie PERFECTLY. Acdec is 1920s themed this year so while nobody else understood the intricacies of my choice to wear these, I DID and it was AWESOME. I would recommend these boots.
I got a half size up during a sale because my size was sold out. I'd say they fit true to size! They feel just a tad too big, but it's worth it to have such beautiful boots. They definitely fit comfortably enough to wear for special occasions, especially if I have good socks on. The purple leather is a deep plum color, not too garish but still quite magical! The soles are smooth and slippery. They're great inside, but I wouldn't go outside with them in the winter! Overall I'm super happy with these boots!
Only had them for a couple days. Arrived in good condition, fit nicely and are comfortable to wear. Wanted to try American Duchess shoes for a while now and am very happy with the results.
I don't ever wear shoes with heels so I was cautious about this (I know they're low but still) but these lovely shoes are Very comfortable!! The leather sole is quite slippery so I may get it replaced with rubber at some point but its working for now! One day, I will make a nice green 20s style dress to go with them!
I found that these run a little bigger than expected, I'm usually a 7.5-8 so because the 7.5 was out, I originally purchased the 8 (reviews have said to go up a size for this brand). But the 8 was enormous. I then replaced it with the 7 and it fits perfectly!
The only nitpick is that going down stairs is uncomfortable because they don't bend well at the ankle. However I expect this to get better as I wear them more and the leather becomes softer.
