I've followed American Duchess for years and I finally made the purchase of these heels. I regularly wear authentic 40s'-50's attire and I've been struggling to find soulful heels, especially in WHITE. This pair is sturdy with thick leather, which gives them a good sense of reliability. They are stark, bright white (not off-white or cream).
Now I'll get a little technical in case if anyone is a similar size as me: I'm usually size 7.5W-8W. My feet are 9.5" long and 3.5" wide at the ball. Out of fear, I chose the "safe" route and ordered the bigger size, an 8W. They ended up being too long, so I returned them for a 7.5W. This was much more suitable. I still had to add heel pads to get an exact fit, but I'd say they generally run true to size. The return process was also super easy.
I wore these heels to a vintage fashion event and they got a ton of attention, almost moreso than my dress. I was standing & walking non-stop, no sitting, for over three hours. Towards the end I did start feeling discomfort in the ball-of-foot area, so next time I may add some cushioning there. The walking area was flat concrete, and due to the shoe's flat soles, there was some decent scraping underneath. (which is expected of this style).
I expect these heels to hold up well in terms of longetivity, but I'm going to preserve them for specific occasions only. This is also because of them being white, the scariest color to wear. I typed an essay here but I hope my review gives some insight to anyone hesitating, or who is a similar size as me. It'll be a little different for everyone. These heels bring so much life to my outfits and I have no regrets!
