Description

Meet Frederick, our first men's side-button boot of the late Victorian, Edwardian, and 1920s eras. These snappy ankle boots feature a leather and cotton upper based directly on an antique pair of original men's button boots from the turn of the 20th century. Fredericks are an everyday style, very comfortable and practical, and perfect for both modern and historic dress.

This design is also available in women's sizing, called Bristol. There is crossover between the men's and women's size ranges. Please note that women's standard width is "B" and men's standard width is "D."

You will need a button hook to easily and quickly get your boots on. Button hooks sold separately.

Protect the fabric uppers of your boots with Angelus Water & Stain Repellent.

    Great reproduction!

I'm lucky to have tried on an original pair of capless all-black button boots from the 1890s, and these are spot on in thickness and material. They are accordingly very light but not too thin. The uppers aren't incredibly tight, so it feels more like wearing a slipper or loafer; my hunch to order a half size down was correct (I float between an 8.5 and 9, so I went 8.5).
My only complaint were the buttonholes- they were cut a bit sloppy, and at least on the black ones, the white material between layers showed through. I simply blackened them with a sharpie. That is the ONLY complaint with these, all around a smashing boot, and one I'm very glad AD went to the trouble to make. I didn't expect to ever get my own fresh pair!

    Bravo
