This classic American Duchess 18th century style is now available in D-width!
Kensington 18th century shoes offer all the sensibility of hard-wearing camp shoes, but are also lovely to look at and comfortable to wear.
Featuring our custom made French heels, and hand-sewn pointed toes, Kensingtons exhibit all the trademarks of shoes historically accurate for the American Colonial period, particularly the Revolutionary War years.
Why sacrifice style for practicality when you can have both? Dress your Kensies up with glittery paste buckles, or dress them down with a simpler buckle design (see latchet sizing information below). Whichever class you represent, camp follower to aristocrat, your feet will be as well-dressed as the rest of you.

These are absolutely beautiful shoes but they don't hold up to very hard use , I got mine in October and the heels are in rough shape. Probably my fault but if you are planning on physical work in these shoes I might go for a different option. But they are fantastic for lounging in and not doing much physical labor
Oh dear! These look like they've been through the wringer of a lot of water damage and extreme wear and tear!
Leather shoes and leather soles can be quite durable, but aren't meant for wearing in all conditions, nor will it hold up well to lots of repeated abrasion or very rough circumstances. Leather doesn't do well with getting soggy, and drying wet leather with a heat source can damage it further. How you care for and maintain the shoes will also impact their longevity. Leather can also get eaten away by things like road salts dissovled in winter slush.
If you'll reach out to us at info@americanduchess.com we're more than happy to chat about shoe care and recommendations for preventative measures to avoid such a result. Things such as adding rubber soling, how treat and repair the shoes if they do encounter damaging conditions to avoid further damage, and swapping out the heel caps and/or adding toe caps if needed can be shoe lifesavers, as well as knowing what you can and can't expect out of your shoes.

I had a little trouble with installing the buckles. One wound up slightly off center.
The shoes are comfortable almost immediately. I wore them for 5 hours the very first time. They look great. I'll definitely be buying more styles now that I'm so happy with my first purchase.
I purchased the wide width, and they are just right for me.
I had been wanting a pair of Kensingtons for awhile, and finally went ahead and purchased them. They feel good, heel not too high. And adjustable across my instep. Very nice!
Excellent fit. I am delighted to have these shoes in a wide width. I have purchased all four colors and love the quality and fit.
