Why sacrifice your vintage style for practicality when you can have both with a great pair of common sense oxfords? A good, solid oxford is a real asset to any vintage fashion enthusiast. Our Claire 1940s Oxfords meet all the requirements of a sensible shoe while also being stylish and unique.

Claire 1940s Oxfords are direct reproductions of an original CC41 compliant "Academy Girl" brand shoe. They meet all the requirements for most military unit dress shoes and are similar in design and decoration to original styles sold as military dress shoes by historic brands such as Red Cross and Lotus.

Claires are constructed of a black calf leather upper, lined in brown pigskin leather, with leather soling and a 1.6 in / 4 cm stacked-look heel, just like the original.

Toe box too narrrow

Lovely shoe. Just too narrow in the toe box area for my foot. Not sure how to send these back, AD doesn't seem to make the return process quite a slick as other companies.

Comfortable heel!

I'm using these as work heels and I am super happy with them. The fit is impeccable as always with American Duchess and great for the narrow footed person (me). The 4cm heel very well balanced and elongates the leg. And their size 6 is always super consistent and fits me 23cm foot.

These are my fourth pair of American Duchess shoes and I am only going to keep collecting more.

Worth every penny!

Do I love my new Oxfords? Yes. Yes I do. Can I wear them every day all day? Yes. Yes I can.

Am I going to spend a STUPID amount of money buying more shoes from American Duchess? Also yes.

I was worried that the 9 I ordered would be too big since I tend to run from an 8 1/2 - 9, but after walking around in them, I’m glad I got the half size bigger. Stupid comfy, really well made, once you wear these shoes you’ll understand how women. Oils wear heels all day and not be worn out.

10/10 will absolutely buy more.

Lovely 1940's shape

These shoes look wonderful for swing dancing, and I can hop and be dipped while maintaining my balance! The heel length is perfect for a walk on the town. Yes, they look complete with both skirts AND jeans, just like in the 40's ❤️
