These slip-on shoes are accurate for c. 1800 - 1830. They feature a beautiful satin upper embroidered with a historical design on the vamp, complete with spangles. The edges are bound in petersham, with matching optional ankle ribbons and vamp bow which is easily removed. Period-correct turnshoe construction, soft square toe, and real leather soles make the Penelopes unmatched for evening and formal events where the prettiest of shoes are required. Wear them for Jane Austen, Napoleonic, War of 1812, and all Regency events.

- "B" width (women's average), easily stretched
- Runs true to size for most customers.
- Order a half-size larger for wide-width feet, or if you prefer your shoes to fit more loosely, or intend to wear with thicker stockings.

I am based in Germany and had these shipped with all the additional cost of taxes etc. because the European shop didn't have them and BY GOODNESS was it worth it, immediately ordered them in white as well! They fit wonderfully in my usual size!! Also, the Angus water and dirt repellent is EXCELLENT, I highly recommend! The shoes are such a joy I could cry! I cannot wait for spring to be in full swing so that I can start wearing them out more!!
This is the first time this happened to me with AD shoes, but these don't work with high arches at all-the length and the size of the toe box seems right, it's just the low opening to the shoe. I was looking forward to these, and they are well-made and really pretty, just not for me.

I missed out on the gold Penelope slippers the first time around, wrote a plaintive email requesting they come back, and when they *did*, I jumped the second I saw them. They do not disappoint!!! I have yet to wear them for any length of time, but know I'll need to get some insoles for a bit more support. But they are PERFECT for my Regency ballgown, and I'm beyond-words excited to wear them to this year's AGM in Baltimore. They fit true to size!
