Description

Step back in time with the delicious Primrose 18th century shoes. This authentic embroidered satin design has been recreated in collaboration with The Bata Shoe Museum, capturing the look and feel of the original shoes from 1770s-1790s. Made on the Dunmore last and 2 inch / 5 cm heel, you can be sure that style doesn't mean sacrificing comfort.

The Primrose 18th century shoes are part of the "In Bloom" collection developed with the Bata Shoe Museum. Every pair of Primroses sold benefits this important collection and supports Bata in their study, outreach, and conservation.

Primrose does not come with 18th century shoe buckles. You may find our complete selection of 18th century shoe buckles in the accessories section. Please see our page on how to fit your buckles, or watch our shoe buckle fitting video for more information.

Though the antiques were made in silk, our shoes are made in a durable and cleanable polyester satin, the ideal choice for footwear built to last. Spritz your shoes with Angelus Water & Stain Repellent to keep them in good condition and looking swell.

Beautiful and comfortable

I bought these for an outdoor theater piece and parade about the burning of New London CT on September 6th 1781. I portrayed Abigail Hinman. A portrait of her in a local art museum shows her in a pink dress and these were perfect. My feet were comfortable through two outdoor shows and a parade. Sadly, towards the end of the parade it began to rain. I was worried that the shoes would be ruined but they held up fairly well. There are a few wrinkles but other than that, they’re in great shape!

The perfect something blue

I bought these for my wedding — and they were the perfect shoes. They were so comfortable. I wore them all night! they lasted all the dancing and fun. I got so many complaints!! I recommend them to everyone.

The buckle was a little weird to put it but it was really great getting a totally customized size

Awesome

I was too late to get the Flora's in this color so I bought these. As a consolation to myself, I bought the Flora's in lavender. Because they were out of my size in Primroses in this color, I went up 1/2 size and bought thick insoles. They worked like a charm. I needed them for a 1780's gown I had just completed. Between AD and another vendor, we had experience placing shoe buckles. My credit card is still in shock. Please stop making such fabulous shoes!

I feel like a princess!!

These are exquisite! The petal pink, the embroidery-I'm in love. I had a dyeble pair of American Duchess shoes from many years ago that I also love but are now too tight on my feet as my feet are not what they used to be. I truly wish I could own EVERY pair of EVERY style from American Duchess ( I have 4 pairs now already! :))
