Description

The gorgeous Anna May 1920s high-heeled Mary Janes are the quintessential footwear of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Simple, elegant, and refined, the curves of these beautiful shoes accentuate the foot while the perfectly-balanced 3 inch / 7.6 cm French heel lends comfort and stability without sacrificing style.

This iconic shoe was popular from the mid 19-teens and was beloved of Flappers, working women, and movie stars alike. Anna Mays are perfect for dancing, walking, and lending vintage style to any outfit.

Heel too high? We also offer a shorter-heeled version called Millie!

My red Mary Jane's

I finally took the risk and ordered the red Mary Jane's, and I absolutely love them! The quality of the finishings is classic and the fit is comfortable if a little tight, but I didn't know if if the wide would stretch to be too wide after a while so I went for the regular. Now the matching red 20's dress has to be completed!

Stylish and unique

The usual high quality is present in these shoes. I love the true navy colour as well. My only issue is as I have a narrow foot I’m slipping towards the toe. I wish narrow widths were available so I wouldn’t have to do my usual voodoo padding in the shoes to keep my foot where it should be.

We're so glad you like them! For narrow feet that slip forward, we find that ball of foot cushions tend to be the best solution. These not only add a bit of nice padding, but they act as a gripstop to keep your foot positioned correctly in the shoe without slipping forward. There's a variety of styles and types on the market; we have some on our site in the accessory section that we swear by, but depending on what works best for you and your feet, you can also find gel and other varieties and thicknesses at many stores!

Gorgeous!

These shoes (which I lusted for since last year) are everything I hoped for. They look even better in the flesh, and on my feet. They are even comfortable! The button is very tight on the first outing, but just go easy. I had them on for five hours straight with outdoors walking (on pavement) on their first outing and my feet were fine, even though I have a metatarsal toe joint that has had too many old dancing injuries to be happy on high heels. I am so pleased with them.

Beautiful and Glossy

Wow these are even more elegant in person!! Such high quality stitching and craftsmanship! But GRACIOUS the strap on top is TIGHT. I am a true size 8 and the shoe itself is a bit snug but I figure it'll loosen up once I break them in a bit. But the strap is UNFORGIVING💀💀-- It's a challenge to button it since there's not a ton of length to it. Actually it's partially why I didn't feel like I could exchange them after the initial try on, I felt like the button hole had been noticeably disturbed after id managed to secure it. Weirdly enough the strap itself isn't tight once secured but it's a challenge getting it closed nonetheless. I would recommend getting a half size up (at least, that's what I'll be doing when I purchase another pair in a different color).

All in all very gorgeous! I feel like Fran Fine from The Nanny.😆 The shoe is very versatile and goes with many outfits.

We're so glad you're loving your Anna Mays! We do recommend using a button hook when fastening the button as our straps are designed to fit snuggly and it can be very hard to fasten the button with your fingers. If the strap is still too tight when using a button hook, you can move the button closer to the edge of the shoe to give yourself a bit more room. You can take your shoes to your local cobbler to do this professionally, or we have instructions on how to do that yourself here: https://www.americanduchess.com/pages/how-to-move-shoe-boot-buttons
