Introducing Claud, designed in collaboration with YouTuber Jessica Kellgren-Fozard from Jessica Out of the Closet! Claud is the quintessential vintage Mary-Jane you have been searching for. Based on the popular “flatties” styles of the 1950s, Claud features a beautifully shaped vamp, darling pointed tongue, and a rounded toe. Claud’s uppers are made from smooth leather, with suede trim and a suede cord bow. The strap over the instep fastens with an adjustable, quick-release buckle- no fiddly fastenings here! Claud boasts our custom 0.5”/1.27 cm, tried-and-true common-sense heel, which will keep your feet stylish for miles. These flats are perfect for vintage silhouettes and contemporary ensembles alike!

Yes, it is possible for me to think through a problem

This is my updated review of the charming Claud Vintage flat, the little strap hook thingamajig of which my brain couldn't figure out for a minute there.
But I've got it now! Very good reply from American Duchess (they even emailed me a how-to video), although I actually worked it out on my own before I heard from them. I was making it way too complex.
Get these shoes -- you'll love them! I mean it!

Dainty little foot gloves

Beautiful little shoe! Soft leather, good construction, charming details, excellent fit (my usual size was perfect). The only problem is my evident stupidity, since I haven't yet figured out the contraption on the strap. An engineering degree would come in handy. But I'm keeping these shoes. They're too cute to return. And I might get smarter any minute now. Until then I'll just smile at them.

The buckle hook is actually designed to be a bit easier than regular buckles for folks that have less maneuverablity in their fingers. You just reach the strap over and slip the hook over and behind the buckle, so that the hook is sitting behind the buckle - you don't even really see the hook anymore as it's hidden behind the buckle. This way, you can set the buckle in the correct hole for the strap to comfortably hug your instep, then you can hook and unhook the strap at will without having to reset the buckle.

I WASN'T EXPECTING THE SHOES TO BE THIS BEAUTIFUL

They are so beautiful I was actually surprised when I opened the box. Not only that, but they're comfortable as well. This was my first order and I wasn't sure what to expect, so to be so well pleased was a great pleasure (and relief). They're the most expensive shoes I've ever bought, and well worth it.

Great fit

I have a hard to fit foot..low instep, bunion and narrow heels. These fit like a glove. Size 10.5. Lovely color and design.

Cute and comfortable

I've only worn them a few days, but so far they're pretty comfortable (and surprisingly wide - I wasn't sure whether to get the wides or standard, but these are fine for me). I've already been getting compliments on them!
