Tavistock Women's Victorian Button Boots (French Blue)

I previously wrote a review complaining that the shoes I ordered did not fit even remotely, despite being on the larger end of the sizes I normally buy. After some deliberation I finally decided to try a full size larger. And... they are great!! super comfortable and look amazing. And thankfully, I didn't have to move the buttons. But my word of caution on these boots is you may have to try multiple sizes before you get one that works, so be extra prepared to go through the returns process, maybe more than once. And if you wind up having to move the buttons, god help you, because I certainly can't.

(And seriously... don't forget your button hook. You can get out of them without one, but getting in? don't even try it.)

I eyed these boots for ages before I finally took the plunge. I’m so glad I did! They’re elegant and comfortable enough to wear for a full day of walking. I’ve worn these with skirts and dresses to great effect, but they look INCREDIBLE with my black skinny jeans. Now I can rock my punk jacket on top and some rad “granny boots” on the bottom. Just as a note, I did find that I needed the button hook to put these on. While it’s possible to do the buttons yourself, it takes significantly longer than just using the hook (over five minutes + at least one curse word without the hook vs. one curse-free minute with the button hook). You will also need to give the boots time to break in. They pinched my toes when I first got them, but I’ve found that the leather has relaxed over time and become extremely comfortable. The toe is narrow, though, so I stick to thin socks or tights. Overall, I’m very happy with these and have received numerous compliments on them!

These boots made me so happy as soon as I tried them on. Website advice on choosing the right fit is spot-on. I have wide 6.5 feet so purchased a pair in 7 and I could walk around all day in them! Beautifully made with attention to detail - they even include extra buttons and an extra pair of heel taps. Lovely! Well worth the price! If you don't already have a button hook, be sure to include one in your order as it will make fastening them much easier.

I accidentally ordered a size too small and the return was quick and extremely easy, no trouble at all! The shoes are wonderfully made and I definitely would be happy to purchase from here again.

I used my term project in my historical dress class as an excuse for myself to finally buy some of these boots! I ordered size 6 after comparing my measurements to the size chart and they fit true to size for me. They are very comfortable (need to be broken in a bit, they are leather of course) and certainly fit the era. I have fairly small ankles and so I was able to do up the buttons without a boot hook (I gave it a try, just to see!) but I would definitely recommend using one, especially if you plan to wear them often. It makes the process a lot quicker and easier.
