Description

As hemlines rose in the 1920s, flashy footwear was all the rage, and the Daisy Embroidered T-Strap heels are just the ticket. Made in luminous satin heavily embroidered in a gorgeous botanical design, the Daisy T-Strap Shoes are closely based on an original pair in Bata Shoe Museum. These gorgeous shoes are accurate for the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, and offer our refined and stable 2.5 in / 6.3 cm Spanish heel paired with open sides and an almond toe.

Wear Daisy embroidered 1920s shoes with any glamorous dress of the Art Deco period, or pair with modern attire for a bold statement. The leather soles and well-balanced, not-too-high heel make Daisies the perfect dance shoes for all-night comfort and fun.

The Daisy Embroidered T-Straps are designed in collaboration with the Bata Shoe Museum. Every pair of shoes from the In Bloom collection benefits and supports The Bata Shoe Museum in their study, outreach, and conservation.

Though the antiques were made in silk, our shoes are made in a durable and cleanable polyester satin, the ideal choice for footwear built to last. Spritz your shoes with Angelus Water & Stain Repellent to keep them in good condition and looking swell.

Gorgeous, but teeny tiny

These are beautifully made and absolutely gorgeous--but they are EXTREMELY tiny/slim.
I ordered a 6, since my last order was a pair of boots in 6.5, and it was verging on just a little too big (though still comfortable with the right socks), and I usually wear a 6.
There is almost a full inch in difference between the 6 of these shoes and the 6.5 boots--the width around the ball of the foot is massively different, and even the length of the shoe is extremely different. The length would be perfect--if my toes could cram into less than 1.5 inches of space.
My feet--which, as evidenced by the 6/6.5 shoe size, are very small (something commented on my entire life)--look like clown shoes next to how slim and tiny these shoes are.

Most 6 and 6.5 shoes I have are only barely noticeably different, and preference/fit is usually down to subtle design differences or manufacturing, so I'm really surprised at how different the 6 and 6.5 are from American Duchess, with such incredible quality in production. I can't fathom anyone with feet slim and tiny enough to fit into the size 6 of this gorgeous shoe--unless they're perhaps a child or someone otherwise very, very tiny.
And since it's satin, I don't know if stretching them is viable, especially since the sole itself is so slim/small.

I thought these had been available for presale in Wide sizes, but I guess I was wrong, since I can't find them.
I've coveted this pair of shoes for ages and finally decided to splurge (while they're slightly discounted) on a pair for myself. I'm really disappointed in the fit/sizing, and the lack of Wide options available. I hope these become available in the next batch of Wide options, because I'll be returning these.
Extremely sad about it since I finally had clothing that went with these, and was looking forward to finding excuses to wear them. The pictures I've included don't just show the extreme differences in sizing, but also the beautiful embroidery, richness of color, and quality of material. They're well worth the money--I just wish they were sized better and/or available in Wide sizes like many other shoes now are.

Also fair warning about the fit, regardless of the size, if anyone has "short" feet--I can't tell if it's because the 6 is so small or if the proportions of this shoe are just a bit odd for me, but my arch sits very high in the shoe (there's a massive gap visible under my foot from the side--and I actually have very weak arches), and the middle strap gaps as I walk in them (tested them carefully on carpet indoors, of course). Nothing I do seems to make it sit still, and it seems like it's an issue with my foot proportions? A little room makes sense for fit, but it's odd to me that it gaps so much while walking.

Note that there's not at all a 1' difference in the length of the two shoes you've pictured, even given that one's a 6 and one's a 6.5. The Daisy has a higher heel than the Paris, and as with any right triangle, if you keep the diagonal line (the inside of the shoe) the same length, then as you make the vertical line higher, the bottom horizontal line will get shorter. Two shoes of the exact same size, make, and construction, but with different heel heights, will never line up on the bottom - the taller heel will *always* have a shorter sole length. You also have the heel caps lined up here, not the back of the actual shoe - you've got the actual back of the Daisy placed well behind the back of the Paris. All that said, there will also be differences in length depending on the toe shape, and depending on the thickness of the sole (the Paris sole is twice as thick as the Daisy) so lining two different shoe styles up like this doesn't actually tell you anything about how the inside of the shoe measures at all.

We only introduced wide widths recently, and we're working on offering more styles in wide. It's a slow process - we can't just scale them up, we have to start back at the begining and develop each wide style from scratch, with multiple iterations and fittings, and that takes time. Our shoes take between six months to two years to develop from start to finish, and that's doing a few styles at a time. Good fit is worth doing right!

Disappointing 😞

I wanted to love these shoes, but at this point I can only keep them as decor. When I tried to wear them the first time, the button on the ankle strap snapped off and caused me to fall. I contacted AD and they assured me I just needed to be more careful with the button and had to use a button hook. On my own dime, I took the shoes to a professional cobbler to get the button sewn back on, as AD suggested. When I tried on the shoes a second time, I made it all of 5 minutes of walking before the button snapped off again and I went tumbling into the ground. I'm not sure how anyone can walk in these, much less dance.

We're sorry to hear you're having trouble! If the button came off so quickly a second time after being repaired by a cobbler, this tends to indicate that the issue isn't a defect in the shoe, but that something about the fit or the environment is putting excessive strain on the button. It's hard to diagnose such an issue without being physically present, but I'd advise going back to the cobbler and having them assess what the problem may be.

My favourite pair by far

I own several pairs of AD shoes and these are definitely my favourite.
Every time I wear them I receive compliments, and they add the perfect vintage flair to any outfit. I’ve had these for a year and they’re still in such good condition for having worn them regularly. Extremely comfortable, I will note that consulting the size chart is a good idea. I have these in a 6 and my other AD shoes are 5-5 1/2, so they do run a little small.
Hands down would purchase these again in a heartbeat.

Perfect!

These shoes are so gorgeous and elegant, as well as comfortable — I ordered my usual size and they fit like a glove. The heel is perfectly centered as always with American Duchess shoes so they're actually wearable despite the height. With a button hook they were fairly easy to put on, although my left size shoe still proved a bit tough, but the button hook is absolutely necessary. I can't wait to wear them out..
